30-minute Warm-Up Practice Drill for Copperplate Calligraphy
Just like a good warm-up is beneficial before a work-out, doing a proper warm-up of our fingers, hand, and arm, is recommended for calligraphy. Jumping straight to doing your art piece without adequate warm-up can throw you off completely - we know this because it happens to us too! This is because when we do calligraphy, we use our hand and arm muscles and if they are not properly warmed-up, they could remain stiff and would have less reflexes and range of motion.
Doing a proper warm-up or quick drills could also mentally prepare you for the task at hand, reminding you how much you enjoy slowing down and taking the time to write beautiful letters.
This FREE worksheet will help warm-up your fingers, hand, and arm for calligraphy! It features foundational movement and basic lowercase strokes to help you achieve mindful warm-up practice. It’s made up of 3 practice drill sets and each set takes around 30-minutes to finish.
You will need a calligraphy pen, flexible nib (I recommend Leonardt G or Nikko G for beginners), calligraphy ink (Moon Palace Sumi ink or Gouache ink), glass bottle with clean water, paper towels, and this printed worksheet. A smooth copy paper that’s at least 120 gsm (32 lb.) is recommended for printing (print in 100% size).
This is a FREE WORKSHEET. Just click and add to your cart and check-out. It will prompt you to add a few details but that’s it! Once you successfully check-out, a link will be sent to your email which will allow you to download the worksheet in the next 24-hours.
